♦ Jeremy Butland 2022 Family-Owned Business ♦

for New Hampshire & New England

Electrical Installations (EI) was recently named the Jeffrey Butland 2022 Family-Owned Business of the Year for New Hampshire and New England. To qualify for this honor, a business has to be family owned and operated “with a 15-year track record that has been passed on from at least one  generation to another.”  Since EI easily meets the 15-year requirement and with Charlie and Darlene's retirement the reigns have now been passed to Jim and Chuck.  While Charlie and Darlene will always stay involved to some extent they are looking forward to having less day-to-day work.

As part of receiving this award, the Fritz Family had to first meet with representatives of the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) and the NH Business Development  Center (SBDC).  During the visit, the Fritz Family answered a variety of questions and provided a tour of the Moultonborough Office along with our Panel Shop.  During this visit, Charlie was quoted as saying “Our world, in one word, is ‘infrastructure… People don’t see (it), don’t know it’s there.”.  On May 12th, 2022 everyone gathered at the Manchester Country Club for the formal award presentation.  At this ceremony, there were various businesses represented that were receiving awards for their success along with representatives of the SBA, SBDC, and the NH Bankers Association.  The Fritz family also received recognition from New Hampshire’s Representatives in the United States House of Representatives and Senate.

2018 Team Meeting

On April 27th, all Electrical Installations employees gathered at Ridgewood Country Club in Moultonboro for EI’s Annual Team Meeting.  Our meeting began with introduction of those employees new to the company since our previous meeting: Annette Chamberlain, Tracey Clarenbach, Chris Roberts, Shane Pouliot, Frank Capri, and Tyler Capri.

As always, our meeting began by focusing on our #1 priority, safety. Informational vendor presentations included “Explosion-Proof Wiring Methods & Equipment” and “Silica Dust Containment”.  Safety Director Matt Blood provided safety and OSHA updates as well as an overview of a Tool Box Talks phone app. Use of this app will be implemented on all EI job sites and it is expected to greatly enhance the effectiveness and frequency of Tool Box Talks. Charlie Fritz presented “New Compression Connector Techniques for Large Cables” including a demonstration of EI’s newly acquired compression connector. In his own unique style, Charlie emphasized the dangers of improper use of this powerful tool.

Updates and advantages of EI’s SIMPLE IRA Retirement Plan were presented by Greg Tetreault of Boston Partners Financial Group providing valuable information for those not already enrolled in this beneficial program. Updated information regarding EI’s Employee Handbook and eSUB payroll submission were presented as well as purchasing techniques and recommendations.

Following lunch, we turned our focus to the company itself including most recent performance and the challenges that lie ahead. EI’s annual “State

of the Company” review highlighted 2017 as the most challenging year in EI’s 30-year history. Faced with unprecedented volume and remote jobsites, adequate project staffing became our constant concern. Extensive use of subcontractors and temporary labor became the norm but it was the perseverance and dedication of our own EI team that allowed us to meet the challenges of 2017. We are only as strong as our employees and it would appear that we are virtually indestructible. The majority of our team members have spent many years contributing to our success and it was our pleasure to end our team meeting with presentation of milestone awards. Ben Fritz, Andy Fritz, and Chris Brosious were honored for having achieved 5 years of dedicated service. 10-year service awards were presented to Kim Souza, Casey Damon, and Michele Near.  Once again, we were delighted to celebrate an employee reaching the 20-year service mark as we proudly honored Tom Therrien for more than 20 years of service. We are most grateful to all for their commitment and dedication.

2016 Team Meeting

Our 2016 annual gathering began with an introduction of our newest team member, Kyle Palevicius, an apprentice electrician.  Safety Director, Rick Frame, then congratulated the entire EI team for maintaining a perfect safety record throughout 2015 and reviewed  OSHA updates and the most common OSHA violations.  The balance of the morning focused on extensive Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) training presented by representatives of Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley.

Cheryl Adams of Citizens Bank shared important and valuable financial wellness information regarding two topics of concern to all, Preventing an ID Theft Crisis and Improving your Credit Score, while Peter Griffey, a representative of Aflac, provided a brief overview of the array of supplemental insurance plans available to all EI employees.

Our annual "State of the Company" described a strong company that does not miss an opportunity to bid any viable project, which inevitably leads to unpredictable geography and  a current backlog that challenges us to maintain the momentum currently enjoyed.  In recognition of the importance of keeping the lines of communication open, a "Town Hall" event ensued, allowing everyone the opportunity to ask questions and/or voice concerns.  This event was a huge success, covering a myriad of topics and providing clarity regarding a number of issues.

In the spirit of never losing sight of the fact that our greatest strength as a company is the incredible team that we have assembled, we were proud to honor three team members marking 10 years of dedicated service - Eva Fritz, Bryan Payne and Rick Frame - and delighted to celebrate three team members marking 20 years of dedicated service - Neil Davis, Brian Chevrette and Darlene Chevrette.  We could not be more appreciative of the contributions that these individuals have made to EI's success!

Our meeting closed with recognition that the company, itself, will mark an extraordinary milestone in the coming year.  All in attendance were invited to join us next April on a Caribbean cruise as we celebrate Electrical Installations' 30th Anniversary.
